Reporter's Notebook: Bracing for a Big One
I sort of expected to not see too much action in Biloxi. After all, I'm reporting from a location about 80 miles east of New Orleans.
Nonetheless, this city of posh gambling casino resorts was devestated three years ago and the scars still show.
85 percent of Gulfport and Biloxi have evacuated for higher ground. We're on the "dirty side" of Gustav and could see catastrophic storm surge and flash floods.
We're also getting hit hard with tornadoes. A tornado watch extends all the way to Pensacola and about two hours ago a local police spotted a fast moving twister in Gulfport. Still no word on damage, but I'm headed to the beach and will let you know how Gustav is impacting Mississippi's Gulf Coast.
Stay tuned.
