Get To Know Your Opponent
The Chiefs get set to make their first visit to Jacksonville since 2004 but there head coach has some found memories of Florida, Chiefs coach Todd Helay was all about Florida colleges he went to the University of Florida, the University of Miami, and graduated from UNF in 1991. Last time he visited was as a coach with Dallas in 2006.The good news going into the KC game the Jags have only lost twice in the 7 games they played against the Chiefs. The most recent game was in '07, the Jags handed the Chiefs a 17 to 7 loss, last time they played here was back in 2004 Jags won that one 22 to 16. Jack Del Rio has only one loss against the Chiefs and KC is 1 and 3 playing at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.
Larry Johnson the Chiefs star running back is out on suspension, let this be a lesson to all the kiddies out there twitter is only going to get you in trouble. The starter against the Jags should be Jamaal Charles. He was a third round pick out of Texas, he saw action in every game last year but only gained 357 and scored once on a reception but the way the jags played last week against the run his number could be engraved in your head by the end of the day.
Larry Johnson isn't the only player out this week for the Chiefs there free safety position is all messed up, the three-year starter Jarrad Page went on injured reserve and veteran Jon McGraw, who had started the past two games in Page's place, is also hurting and may not play. With the top two guys possibly out, that means a practice squad guy might be the starter this week. With Page going on IR that open up a roster spot and the Chiefs made a big gain at wide receiver. They picked up Chris Chambers off waivers from San Diego. Chambers has had a down year; he has only nine catches for 122 yards and one touchdown. Now the receiver combo of Dwayne Bowe and Chris chambers are going to be a force that the Jags will have to contend with.
The Chiefs only have one win but don't let that fool you there a lot like the Jags, inconsistent. They don't pull out the close games in the end but they play good teams close, check this out they lost to the Vikings by 4, Dallas they lost to in overtime and these are two of the top teams in the NFC. They also only lost to Seattle by 4, a tad better than the Jags did against them, and by the way they are coming off their bye week just like Tennessee did last week.
Sure Jack Del Rio might be feeling a little heat on his coach's seat, but that's not the only reason he wants to win this week. If you didn't know Del Rio played linebacker with the Chiefs for two seasons in '87 and '88. In his time there he started 17 games had 4 sacks and 1 interception; you always want to get that win against your former team. Haven't seen any of the ticket sale numbers yet by my guess is the game will be blacked out, so the only way to catch the game if you're not in the stands is on wokv. Our coverage of the Jags and Chiefs starts Sunday at 10am with the tailgate show kickoff is at 1.
