The Jack Del Rio Show (Instant Replay Available)
After a historic loss in Seattle everyone one wants to move on, but how is that handled internally? You might expect screaming, extra long practices, or even roster moves but the coach took a different approach this week.
On Tuesday night's coach show, Jack Del Rio said "we're not gonna have a beat down session, I think we all feel bad enough". That's a bit of an odd statement after a 41 -0 loss, of course your going to feel bad, but the question is how will this team get better. Jack thinks this team is getting better going on to say "we're an improving football team, you don't know that, you don't feel that based on last weekend". Week's one through four I can see how Del Rio thinks the team is getter better but there is no doubt the jaguars took a huge step backwards on Sunday.
There's two types of NFL coaches one ones that yell and scream and give great press conference clips to use in beer commercials, guys like Mike Singletary of the 49er's, Jon Gruden, and a former Jags coach Tom Coughlin. The other is the strong but silent type guys like Andy Reid of The eagles, tony dungy, and our very own Jack Del Rio, so don't expect to see jack on those Sunday beer commercials any time soon. The questions is which type of style works better, both have their pro's and con's, but it's all about how your players respond to you.
It's obvious the players didn't respond well against Seattle but now it's time to move on. The silver lining is the Jags have a winless team heading here, and not just any winless team, it's the Rams. The Rams in this reporter's opinion is the worst team in the NFL. The Jags can't afford to over look St. Louis, Insert your favorite cliché here, every dog has his day, any given Sunday, etc. After that the bye week, a chance to heal up and refocus on the stretch run of the season.
