Three Problems Heading into the Jaguars Seasons
First up we take a look at the QB's. Big problem right off the bat is we are only carrying two guys. Garrard is like a roller coaster two years ago unreal, last year unwatchable, which QB will see this year? Now if he goes downs it's all up to Luke McCown. Here's the problem, the guy has only been on the team for less than a week and he only has played in 12 games in his career. Can he carry the load and if he goes down? If both guys hit the deck in a game who is up next? It's going to have to be the rook Tight end Zach Miller. He played QB in college so my guess is he is the 911 emergency dude.
Moving on to concern two for the Jags heading into week 1 is the running back situation. No more Fred Taylor so for the first time in his career Mojo will be the featured back, can he carry the load? Problem two is he going to be 100 percent, the coaches and Maurice say yes but can you really believe any of that talk? I mean if my star running back was hurting I would never tell the other team. If Mojo's done the ball goes over to the rook out of Liberty, Rashad Jennings. He doesn't have any game experience but Jennings has football in his blood His brother, Butch, played at Virginia Military Institute and Liberty before moving onto the NFL's New York Giants as a running back. Another brother, Bryan, was a tight end at Virginia Tech and later with the San Diego Chargers, New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans.
Next problem is the youth. I told you yesterday the Jags plan to start up four rooks, Ebin Britton and Eugene Monroe will have to go against one of the best D ends in the past few years, Dwight Freeney, are they ready? They better be. While Eugene might have held out on his own Derek Cox was held out by the coaches. He only saw the field once in the preseason but Jack Del Rio and the boys said that's enough to start him. A couple of not so young guys but new to the jags will be starting as well. Torry Holt and Sean Considine, are these key free agents ready to make a big impact? We will all find out Sunday our coverage starts at 10 with the tail gate show kick-off is at 1
