The Solution To The Ticket Problem
FREE UPGRADE.
My first thought is if you buy a seat in the upper bowl, I mean the real cheap seats. Then you get an automatic seat upgrade to the low sections. This will solve 2 problems, one fans might be more willing to go to game for 40 bucks if they can sit on the 50 yard line 10 rows away from the field. The second problem it will solve is when NFL personnel and fans get to see the highlights from the game the stadium will look full.
HALF PRICE JAGS WINS
The way this works is if you have a ticket stub from the previous game and the jags win, next game is half price. This almost guarantees that people will buy tickets to multiple games. I think the bigger problem with this promotion will be getting the jags to win. Fans always cheer harder and louder when they have something on the line, like the playoffs or a half price ticket.
BRING THE FAMILY DAY
For every ticket purchase you can bring a child under 12 for free. Again the stadium will be packed with kids, kids that want food, sodas, and souvenirs.$$$. Plus what this team needs is a more fans. Little Jag fans make big Jag fans for a lifetime.
ADVERTISE IN OTHER CITIES
When all else fails start advertising to our opponents fans. Right now it doesn't matter who comes to the games as long as people are coming. Partner with a local hotel and say if you come to a jags game you get a free hotel room. This boasts the local economy, people staying in town and spending money. I can see the ad's now "your stadium sold out, we never sell out", "come see your team at our house", " Jacksonville, your team's second home", and "tired of overcrowded stadiums, there's always room in Jacksonville municipal stadium".
These are just a few ideas, leave a comment on what you think or your ideas on how to fill the stadium.
What others are saying
- A way to fill the stands and end blackouts.I believe I have an idea which would end the blackouts by filling the stands at every home game. We have over 1 million people in the surrounding area and many of them are Jaguars fans. Unfortunately we canât fill the stands. There are many of us which are unable to go to the games for valid reasons but would watch the game if it were televised. There are also enough that would go to the game if they could afford to. My thought is very simple but I donâtâ have real numbers on what this would take.
Last weeks attendance with Arizona was 46,520 that is 3,480 short of the needed 50,000 seats to have stopped the blackout. If I remember the games we had blacked out last year that number averaged less, but let us use 5,000 needed seats for an example to keep the math easy. I think the ticket price for the needed seats is $40 which comes to $200,000. If only 50,000 people would be willing to pay $5 per home game ($50 per year paid in advance) would bring in $250,000 per game to purchase tickets. A non-profit organization could be created to purchase and distribute the tickets to various organizations. You could have a theme for each week such as a âveteransâ weekâ. Surplus money could be used to aid in transportation and possibly even a pre paid card good for food and sodas at the concession stands for some games or special groups.
This is a thought and maybe someone could look into it. I think 50,000 is a low number on how many would be willing to commit to $50 a year to insure there are no blackouts. - Ticket IssueWIN, and the will come!!
Go Jags! - ticket salesNot sure how blackouts help sell tickets. People that don't see the game on TV will soon forget about them on sunday football and go fishing. Kind of like taking away the advertising and expecting people know you are still there.
- Great OffersI like all the offers, especially the half price if they win. I know they already have one of the lowest price tickets, but if couldn't hurt to lower them anymore, I mean people are already paying $25 for parking, concessions probably run $12-$15 for a hot dog, drink, and chips. But why wouldn't the upgrade be free anyway? If you buy a $40 ticket why couldn't you seat in the lower bowel if no one is there? Anyways, the real answer to this, is to win, winning fixes everything because people will jump on the band wagon. Hopefully that happens soon or in 5 years we won't have the Jaguars to talk about anymore. Oh yeah, and don't forget about the layaway plan they have for season tickets, that is awesome. I'm starting mine next month!
- Ticket IssueGreat points, chad. I was in Orlando three weeks ago and passed three Miami Dolphins Billboards saying the same thing, "come see your team at our house", all on I-4. We are much closer to Orlando than Miami. We could target not only Orlando but Savannah, Hilton Head, Daytona. etc.
- Fill the seatsMaybe if you sign a big name quarterback and someone to catch the ball he throws you wouldn't have a problem filling the seats.
- StupidBuy the tickets or don't. The Weavers used gimmicks from 2001-2004, that is why now everyone wants $10.00 tickets.
Been there 15 years. They don't show it on TV, and the stadium was pretty full this past weekend.
Sounds like they have solved the problem.
Oh wait, you mean solve the problem so you can watch on TV right? lol...I can help you solve that too! They have a huge TV in the stadium. 633-2000 option 1. - LOWER CONCESSION'SLower the price of all conessions to a reasonable figure. Beer should not cost $6.oo for, hotdogs, chips etc. are way over priced!!! They are higher than the airport.
- good point chadChad i like your points, however I disagree on the last one. If I was going to travel to watch my team in another part of the country, i would want to go a historic stadium(which jacksonville doesn't have) or a game my team would win and the Jags look like a team that most NFL teams could beat
- Ticket ProblemThe only way to fill seats is to win games.
- Jags ticketsI disagree with the top two of these suggestions. While they seem viable, they do not take into account that once any of these programs are in place, there will be no incentive for people to become season ticket holders. Why pay an increased price, if you can get a cheap seat and move down? Why pay in advance if there's a possibility of getting tickets for the next game cheaper if the Jags win? The family night could be considered. As far as advertising in other cities, the Jags will still need to win to entice people to travel. Otherwise, it turns into a potential marketing ploy for the hotel, not the Jags.
