Jaguars Hit Low Point In 30-12 Loss To Vikings
The Jaguars started poorly, finished poorly and saw their last sliver of hope drift away. The Jaguars had little hope of the playoffs heading into Sunday's matchup with the Vikings, and after a minute and 41 seconds of the game, they trailed 14-0. They Jaguars never recovered.
It's kind of a microcosm of the season. The Jaguars lost their first two games of the year and never recovered. The 30-12 loss to the Vikings dropped the Jaguars to 4-7 on the year. It's the same record as they had after 11 weeks in 1996. That year, the Jaguars won out, made the playoffs and wound up in the AFC Championship game. Don't expect the same this year. This team is in dire need of something to build on for the off-season and now they have five weeks to find something. The final five weeks of the season will not be enjoyable, but they have no choice but to endure it. Next week, it's a Monday night matchup with the Houston Texans--another team that isn't going anywhere. The question is: who can find the motivation to overcome it?
What others are saying
- What ailes the JaguersIt's de javu' all over again. We still have the same problems facing us as before the season. We are a poor pass rushing team. At times we can't cover anyone. We have no imagination when it comes to the varity of plays called. we run the same plays every week no matter who the defense is and what their scheme is. Not only have we not replaced Jimmy Smith, we have not replaced Keenan MacCardle. How long ago was that 5 years. We habve got to be one of the poorest drafting teams in the league. The worst thing I see, however, is the lack of heart and efforting on this team. I hope that something positive can come out of the wreckage that is the jaguars. Other than MJD, the outlook is bleek indeed.
- Low Point of the Season? Now the fans will have to wait through another off season while the team retunes and tries to find answers to their shortcomings. The Jaguars have a lot to overcome. Ticket sales will be slow for 2009 after a terrible year and confidence will be low for their playoff chances next year too. Not much left to say except, "wait til next year."
