Jaguars Beat Texans in OT 30-27
For the second straight week, the Jaguars went right down to the wire to win. And like last week, it was Josh Scobee who booted the game winning field goal...this time it was in overtime in a 30-27 win over the Texans. But it was how the Jaguars won and what they overcame that really got my attention.
The Jaguars overcame a poor defensive defensive performance--they gave up another 4th quarter lead. But David Garrard put the team on his back late in the game and he led the Jaguars to the win. Scobee will get the accolades--and they're well deserved, but on a day when the defense couldn't stop the Texans, and the Jaguars best running backs-Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew playing hurt, Garrard carried the load. If the Jaguars are going to be a playoff team, they'll have to do three things. First, Garrard will have to carry the team for short bursts like he did on Sunday. Second, they'll have to get and keep Taylor and Drew healthy, and finally, they'll have to shore up the defense. There are area's to improve upon, before Pittsburgh comes to town on Sunday, but the Jaguars will enjoy making the corrections a whole lot more after winning.
