Jaguars Beat Colts 23-21
The Jaguars went to Indianapolis and come back home a winner for just the second time in team history.
Before the Jaguars game in Indianapolis, I said that it would be the pivotal game of the season. Now we'll find out if I was right. The Jaguars win gives it that potential. And not just because they notched a 23-21 win on Josh Scobee's 51 yard field goal with 4 seconds left.
There is more meaning in this one. Not only did the Jaguars notch their first win of the season, but they also now have a win in hand against the defending AFC South champs and a winnable game at home next week against the Texans.
They'll also have a much easier week mentally. They won't have to hear about how few teams make the playoffs after starting 0-3. Those stats don't matter to the Jaguars, who are now 1-2.
One other big thing that comes out of this game: the Jaguars were reinforced about what they can accomplish when they are stubborn with the run game. Fred Taylor ran for 121 yards and Maurice Jones-Drew ran for 107. As a team, the Jaguars totaled 403 total yards, 236 on the ground.
That's the kind of team the Jaguars need to be--the kind of team they were in the second half of last year. Run first, then convert on third down.
That's a great starting point for the Jaguars game plans in the near future. And that future starts Sunday at home against the Houston Texans.
