Del Rio Rejects Criticism of Collier
Speaking on his weekly radio program, The Jack Del Rio Show on WOKV Tuesday night, the Jaguars head coach strongly rejected the notion that Richard Collier was in the wrong for being out late on Monday night when he was shot.
"A person got shot. The guy who shot the gun is the problem," said Del Rio. "Not the guy who got shot. He's the victim. He's not the problem. You should be able to go out and have a good time and not be worried about being killed or put in a hospital. The person who pulled the trigger is who is wrong."
Collier was out with former Jaguar Kenny Pettway on Monday night when he was shot. To give some perspective, Sunday and Monday night are for NFL players the equivalent of Friday and Saturday night for the usual Monday through Friday worker.
There was criticism locally and nationally of the Jaguars off-the-field issues lately. Khalif Barnes, Brian Williams, Matt Jones, Fred Taylor, Justin Durant, and Collier have had legal issues of one type or another over the past two years.
The Jaguars made several roster moves Tuesday, activating cornerback Isaiah Gardner to the active roster from the practice squad and waiving third-year defensive end Brent Hawkins. They also added wide receiver D'Juan Woods and offensive tackle Cliff Louis to the practice squad and waived cornerback Rashod Moulton from the practice squad.Marketplace
