Jaguars Top Bucs 23-17
Two of the biggest goals for the Jaguars in the pre-season were to stay healthy and develop a pass rush.
Saturday night in Tampa neither goal was met.
During the Jaguars 23-17 win, Jack Del Rio was holding his breath as he got the report on Maurice Jones Drew, who left the game in the first quarter with an ankle injury.
The injury isn't believed to be a serious one, but it sure made everyone on the Jaguars sideline gasp. There are, let's say, a dozen Jaguars who are the most valuable, key contributors, but few would be harder to replace than Drew.
As for the other goal, the pass rush still isn't there. Quentin Groves didn't make a difference, Derrick Harvey still isn't signed up and the Jaguars only managed 2 second half sacks of Buccaneers quarterbacks.
Why do I bring up these two points? With the final preseason game Thursday night, the Jaguars must walk the delicate line between safety and development in the final game before the regular season. Jack Del Rio says he'll play his starters, but if he doesn't, who could blame him.
